English Proficiency Tests

Updated: Jun 10, 2020

Universities use these tests to determine your knowledge of the English language, and whether or not you would be able to communicate effectively with your peers. There are two main types of English proficiency exams: The IELTS and TOEFL.

IELTS

The International English Language Testing System, or IELTS, is an international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. The test is composed of four sections speaking, listing, reading and writing. Please refer to our sub-page for tips to ace this exam!

TOEFL

The TOEFL is one of the prominent standardized tests used today. It is a proficiency test, in the sense that it examines an international student’s ability to read, write, speak, and listen in American/English speaking universities around the world. The test, much like the IELTS, consists of 4 parts: the reading section, the writing section, the listening section and the speaking section. Refer to our sub-page where we plan on further establishing your knowledge surrounding this exam, as well as tips and tricks you should follow in order to achieve your optimal score of 100 or higher.
